Join us for a seminar with sound artist and IAS Artist in Residence Boris Allenou, presenting ACOUSTICK, a collaborative project with Dr Marine Petit, a tick-virologist. As part of his Fellowship, Boris has investigated the impact of global warming on the UK tick species Ixodes Ricinus vector of important disease including Lyme disease and Tick-borne encephalitis. The project has integrated mathematical modelling, ecological data, and field recordings to produce a sonic representation of the tick’s lifecycle under changing climatic conditions. This seminar will explore how artistic approaches such as data sonification can complement fundamental research and offer novel ways to explore scientific hypotheses.
This event is open to staff and students.
