Please join Dr David Griffiths (Sociology) and Dr Marta Prandelli (Dublin City University) for a conversation about their research on intersex, the complexities of adding the ‘I’ to LGBTQIA+, and the role of psychology and the social sciences in sex, gender and sexualities research, politics, and social justice.
Dr Marta Prandelli is a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellow at Dublin City University, Ireland, with a MSc in Psychology and a PhD in Social Sciences from the University of Padova, Italy. She currently leads the CHRISALIS project, an interdisciplinary research initiative investigating the societal and cultural dimensions of variations of sex characteristics (VSC), commonly known as intersex, in Italy and Ireland. Dr Prandelli's research interests lie at the intersection of social sciences, psychology, and gender studies, primarily examining how societal and cultural contexts shape the lived experiences of individuals with VSC. Her research brings together the voices of people with VSC, their families, and healthcare professionals, offering critical insights into the development of inclusive and supportive policies. This engagement underscores her belief in the transformative power of social psychology and social sciences to influence policy and foster engaged citizenship.
