This workshop explores innovative approaches to schistosomiasis control and elimination.
Day 1 topics:
Epidemiology in two endemic countries (Nigeria and Togo), interdisciplinary methods to understand and reduce transmission hotspots, genomics for helminth control, snail ecology and control strategies, diagnostics development, and microbiome research.
Day 2 topics:
A showcase of new projects (AHR-SEA, DRIVERS, Wicked Schisto, and OR-SCH), in addition to discussing mining impacts on snail habitats.
The meeting closes with discussions on future collaborative projects, combining modelling, field tools, and policy-focused research for neglected tropical diseases.
