Fellowship focus: Facilitating new opportunities for collaboration and commercialisation using technologies such as AI and near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS).
Chief Researcher at Hitachi’s Center for Exploratory Research, Dr Maki will give four talks on his company’s research and commercial activities at Surrey. The aim is to establish connections between Surrey’s academics and Hitachi in the fields of ageing; NIRS development and application; robotic and AI-based interventions for better verbal interaction; and toy design based on cognitive development. In addition to opening up new opportunities for collaborations, grants and commercialisation, the Fellowship will enable exchange visits by scientists at Surrey and Hitachi.
